A Day With Grandma

Kendra is taking her last class this summer for her Masters Degree in Journaling. Grandma and Grandpa get to help by watching the children while she is studying this week.

Today we had a tea party, played soccer, softball, volleyball, Hula hoop, gardening, watering flowers, barbie dolls, boccerball, pool, basketball, watched the Chipmunk Adventure, ladder golf...... and grandma was exhausted by the end of the day.... a whole week of exhaustion - I can't wait! How in the world do our children handle this day after day - after one day I hit my bed by 9:00 p.m. and slept harder than I've slept in a month!

POOF

Last week Stephen and I were taking a walk with our dog, POOF. POOF was really excited about taking her walk until we rounded the corner and a big brown dog come running out of his house and attacked POOF shaking her like a wounded bunny. Needless to say, POOF was badly hurt. Many, many stitches later and her entire torso wrapped in bandages, she is surviving. It was a tough decision as to whether we should put her to sleep because her wounds were so bad, but now that we are through the worst of it all, we are glad we were able to save her. This posting is really for Sara/Chris in Florida and Stephanie/Daniel who are currently in South America - just so you can see that POOF is good!

Her bandages are to be taken off tomorrow, so I will take pictures so you can actually see the extent of her injuries. They showed us at the Vet today and it looks really awful! She looks good with the bandages -

Fourth of July

We certainly had a wonderful time celebrating the fourth of July with Jason, Kendra, Kinsen and Jaybin. The entire day was enjoyable playing basketball, soccer, blowing bubbles, having a cookout and topping the evening off by going into the city of Carmel where they had a festival complete with a firetruck, an orchestra in the town gazebo, and elephant ears! Watching the fireworks through the eyes of children certainly is welcome once again in our lives. Kinsen smiled through the entire event saying "this is a really good show" and Jaybin clapped the entire time.

Stephanie and Daniel finally made it to Huancayo Peru, South America. If you want to keep up with what is going on with their missionary work, their blogsite address is: http://jayhawks007.googlepages.com/peru. They have a lot of really great stories to share.

Stephani loves to hear from people in English since the only language spoken in the mountains of Peru is Spanish. So if you would like to write her and let her know you are thinking of and praying for them, thier email address is Stephgirl66@gmail.com

Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain

The day before Stephanie and Daniel left for Huancayo Peru in South America we spent enjoying the beautiful town of Blowing Rock North Carolina with them. We stayed in a lovely 3 suite hotel and ate (way too much) southern style cookin' at Danl' Boones Restaurant. You know the kind of food....swiss steak, fried chicken, virginia baked ham, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked apples, green beans, banana pudding, strawberry shortcake, apple butter and homemade biscuits....ummmmm. Yes, and we ate it all! So, that night we hiked a trail in Blowing Rock and walked the very exclusive stores where we purchased old fashioned candy (which we did not need at all, but we certainly seemed to polish it off before we got home!

Dad and Daniel tried some Suma Wrestling while in we were in Virginia and Stephanie and Mom enjoyed catching up and enjoying being together!

After Dan and Stephanie left for the airport, we then went to Grandfather Mountain to see the biosphere there. The animals we saw were wonderful as well as walking across the mile-high bridge! It was a long ride home, but we did have a wonderful weekend.

Is there a doctor in the house!

Why, yes there is. . . Dr. Christopher Ronald Worley, DO - What a weekend of celebration in Blacksburg VA as Chris graduates from medical school and is promoted to 1st Lieutenant in the Navy. A lot of pomp and circumstance as well as marching, saluting and eating! Steve, Jayna, Grandpa/Grandma Beutler, Stephanie and Daniel all enjoyed sharing in Chris' special day. My favorite memory of the weekend was when I had to take Grant out of the graduation exercise because he just couldn't be quiet any longer. Grant wanted to see his Daddy graduate because his mommy told him that this was a very fun, special day for his Daddy. As I would try to take Grant out of the auditorium, he would cry and say "Daddy, watch" - Then he would take my face in his hands and say "Daddy, fun"! He wanted to watch every moment and when Chris finally walked across the stage, from the back of the auditorium little Grant yelled "Yeah, Daddy"!

Grandpa is having too much fun playing with Grant's Birthday present!

Mason, who is 10 weeks old, is smiling and cooing all the time sporting off his little dimple on his right cheek!

Last Saturday Jason, Kendra, Kinsen, Jaybin and we went to Notre Dame to show the kids where Daddy is going to school, as well as for them to experience a "Notre Dame game", which was actually the Blue Gold Game. We had a wonderful time. Kinsen really enjoyed the sticks, leaves, pinecones and flowers. Jaybin was all boy...his love was football. We really enjoyed the Notre Dame brats - I had forgotten how very goooood they are!
